Our Mission

Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca is a year-round outdoor recreational and camping environment affiliated with the Iowa District East of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. One of the primary ways we carry out our mission is by offering a summer camp program for youth.

Each day at summer camp, campers begin and end each day with the Word of God and prayer, learn about Jesus Christ through Bible study and devotions, and  make lasting friendships. We value the use of God’s natural creation as a catalyst for sharing and teaching God’s Word to young people and their families.

Activities

Our campers have no shortage of things to do while at camp. Being that our programs accommodate campers in kindergarten up to high school seniors, our summer camp program features activities suitable for elementary campers as well as advanced activities for older campers.

Summer Camp Theme

We spend time every day at Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca studying God’s Word. Each year, our Bible study is centered around a theme from Scripture. Though every camper learns the same theme, each program’s Bible study is modified to fit the age group of the program. Campers also participate in multiple devotions each day that fit our Biblical theme and teaches them about Christ. Bible Studies and daily devotions are led by trained camp staff.

Pastor of the Week

Each week, Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca has a Pastor of the Week who leads multiple prayer services each day as well as nightly campfire devotions. The prayer services and nightly devotions are centered around the summer camp theme. In addition to these, the Pastor of the Week will lead an “Ask-the-Pastor” session during each full-week of camp, where campers can ask the pastor any pressing questions they may have.

2026 Summer Theme: Free to Serve

What does it mean to be free? Does it mean I can just do whatever I want? After all, I’m “free to do so,” right? Wrong! In all that we say or do, we are serving someone, something, or some purpose. Let us consider this as well as who and what our words and actions reflect. After all,  “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against… the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Eph. 6:12). While in this wrestling match, it is easy to only consider ourselves and when we’re given “freedom,” to use it as an opportunity to display our sinful nature. However, through Jesus’ death and resurrection, this wrestling match has already been won for us! Therefore, “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness” (Romans 6:18). In Jesus, we see and can now live out what it truly means to be “free,” serving one another through love.

Trailblazer Camp

Even high schoolers need a break from their summer jobs and college visits. Spend a fun-filled yet peaceful time away from the digital world by digging into God’s Word and enjoying the beautiful outdoors!

Challenge Camp

Canoeing 15 miles on the Coralville Reservoir, biking 50 miles on the Cedar Valley Nature Trail, climbing and hiking all over Palisades Kepler State Park, and a final fun-filled day at Lost Island Water Park make up the challenge!
